If we’re being honest, yesterday was exactly what our teams needed. We were able to kick the season off to an amazing start and spend a few days with our most loyal customers, and then boom… A quick nature rest that allowed our teams to spend a few hours with their loved ones on Thanksgiving.
Needless to say, we are thankful, grateful, completely blissful, and all the other ‘thank you’ adjectives for your patience and understanding through the thick of the season’s gear up.
To show our appreciation, we wanted to come back today, even better than before. Huge shout out to our (obviously) unmatched snowmaking team and videographer who enjoyed Thanksgiving with family but skipped the zZzz’s afterwards. They spent the entire night laying down the powder and capturing the process for us to share with you.
Now for our most used phrase by guests this season:
LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Shout out to all of you who dropped everything to join us for the first blue bird day of the season. It was pretty epic. We started the season all the way to the top with service to 8 trails, 2 lifts, 3 terrain park features, and hundreds of smiling faces.
We’ll be back at it again tomorrow starting at 8:30 am and hope to see all the day two’ers there. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you.
The wait is over... We will see you tomorrow, friends!
We are pleased to share that our snowmaking team has pulled off another amazing, season-starting feat.
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 23rd, we will open for our 64th season - all the way to the top! Our early season weekend hours will be in effect: 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM.
We encourage anyone planning to visit this weekend to pre-purchase online at cataloochee.com in advance. All products including slope passes, rentals, and lessons will be available two weeks out, and up to two weeks in advance from this point forward. Direct link to purchase is in our bio.
We sincerely appreciate your patience while we work diligently to lockdown a firm opening date to share. Speaking of opening…
How about them snowmakers, y’all. Sleeeeeigh! Amirite? 🤌😝
We hope you enjoy this timelapse @jeffreylukesutton captured for us early this morning as much as we have. We call this the changing of leaves, Cataloochee Ski Area style. 🍃❄️😎
Keep your eyes peeled here and on our website for updates. It could happen any time now. ⏱️
The leaves are giving “it’s almost time” vibes. We are so excited to welcome you back to the mountain, and time is racing by.
Do you have Halloween plans?! If you haven’t already, mark your calendars as we begin the final countdown of the season pass sale. Grab yours at the lowest prices for the rest of the season through Thursday, October 31st! Link in our bio.
Wow!!! Cataloochee Ski Area received the first natural snowfall of the Fall season overnight. Can you believe it?!
If you are not one of the hundreds already glued to our mountain webcams, begging Mother Nature for unprecedentedly early snow, you could be! Either way, we wanted to make sure you were included in the exciting news.
What do you think: Too soon for cold weather? 🍁 Or BRING ON THE SNOW!!! 🥶 Hint: ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
Friendly reminder that season passes are still on sale at pre-season prices. 🥳 If you haven’t ordered yours yet, don’t sleep on it - prices will increase November 1st.
First and foremost - we are safe. Our year-round staff and their families are accounted for, and we sincerely hope you and your loved ones are as well. We want to thank everyone tremendously for the outpouring of concern and for checking in.
We are grateful to have fared storm Helene as well as we did, and for the ability to extend our available resources to families in need. Necessary repairs to the area are underway and we are full speed ahead, as well as on schedule, for the upcoming season.
That said, our surrounding community has a long road ahead returning to life before the storm. We ask for patience as we respond to inquiries as quickly as possible through widespread connectivity challenges. We will continue prioritizing our support for staff and the community during this time.
Signing off for now, but eager to welcome you back to the mountain very soon. Wishing everyone safety, strength, and a swift recovery.
We are getting SO close to the season we can FEEL it… can you?!
Congratulations to the winner of our season pass giveaway last month @meetthebeesons

We work hard for you all year-round at Cataloochee Ski Area, and continue perfecting our ski skills even when there is no snow on the ground!
We hosted the annual Southeastern Lift Maintenance Seminar last month and wanted to share some fun captures from the event. Ski areas from all over the region joined us to freshen up on their lift maintenance skills, and even learn new tricks of the trade.
Speaking of snow on the ground… Scroll through to 👀 the snow we made during the seminar (yes, snow in MAY, y’all!). You already know we STAY thinking winter. ❄️
